In Fall 2014, Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine launched a revolutionary hybrid head and neck anatomy course under Dr. Robert Hasel’s leadership. Dr. Hasel and his team used Realizeit’s adaptive learning platform in a blended learning and “flipped classroom” model. During the pilot, students improved their written final exam average from 76% to 88.7%, and the prior year’s lab practical of 63% to 88%.

Excerpt from Campus Technology article dated 2/19/2015 – “A topic is like a Lego,” Dr. Hasel explained. In the dental school, there are about 20,000 Legos that students need to learn. Dr. Hasel’s team plugged course material into Realizeit’s adaptive learning engine, essentially building a wall of 20,000 learning Legos. Thanks to the modular format, if content becomes outdated, it can easily be replaced or revised.

University of Central Florida (UCF) is a large public research university based out of Orlando, Florida. The institution employs many methods of instruction including traditional face-to-face, blended and online learning.

We began in Fall 2014 with three subjects in the fields of Psychology, Nursing, and Mathematics. Students access their Realizeit-powered courses through a deep and seamless integration with UCF’s LMS – Canvas. Realizeit also worked closely with UCF’s research team to identify success metrics and output for use in various research projects.

Adapetmy is a K-12 online education and textbook publisher in Ireland. Adaptemy has developed a custom user experience powered by Realizeit to provide curriculum aligned content in math to high schools across Ireland and parts of the UK.

Adaptemy launched in Fall 2014 in 52 schools covering approximately 80 teachers and 2,700 students in a traditional face-to-face approach. Realizeit was introduced into the weekly scheduled class and homework assignment sessions.

Feedback was very positive with 98% of teachers agreeing that their students enjoy using the system and 80% of students wanting to use the system for more subjects than just math.

Florida International University is using RealizeIt to redesign courses and programs with personalization at the forefront. Both the fully-online Master of Public Health with a specialization in health policy and management and the fully-online Corporate Master’s in Business Administration is being reimagined and developed and offered via Realizeit.

Realizeit provide each student with a personalized learning experience, adapting the presentation of content and assessments according to differences in student skills sets. For the faculty teaching the course, the system’s robust analytics provide individualized data on student performance. Faculty can then intervene at the precise moments when students get stuck. Once the course is over, student performance data can show where areas of course improvement are needed. This personalization is done in real-time. Students have the flexibility of accelerating or receive remediation throughout the course. Over time, the system “learns” how students learn and adjusts presentation of content accordingly.
